The first edition of Paraíso features 23 international galleries and projects dedicated to the promotion of Latin American art, alongside nine artists’ proposals, a programme of contemporary video art from Central America, a section dedicated to editions and publications and a public programme of academic talks, live performances and workshops, while the VIP area will showcase a site-specific installation by Carlos Amorales.
The aim of Paraíso is to present great contemporary Latin American artists alongside Modern and Postmodern Latin American masters. Each edition will be dedicated to one country; Mexico is the focus of the first edition, with a revisitation of the work of Felipe Ehrenberg, Mexico City (1943–2017) and a special presentation of two video works by Pola Weiss, Mexico City (1947–1990).
